SWAT Commander Course – January 2024

This 40-hour course will address the various duties and responsibilities associated with the assignment as a Tactical Team Commander. Topics include:

1. Leadership
2. Liability
3. Mission planning and review
4. Public perception
5. Tactical case reviews
6. Penal Code 13514.1
7. POST SWAT Operational Guidelines and
8. Standardized Training Recommendations

COURSE INSTRUCTORS:

Tenured command level officers with experience as SWAT commanders
on active teams who possess decades of combined SWAT experience. The instructors will share their
leadership experiences related to operations, administration, and personnel management of a special
operations unit.

STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO BRING:

A laptop computer to review documents and prepare
presentations, a copy of the agency’s SWAT policies and procedures/guidelines, and a copy of the
agency’s threat assessment matrix.

LODGING:

Class will begin at 0800 hours on the first day and conclude at 1200 hours on the last day.
